In March and April 2019, ADEFO Cinco Villas visited the classrooms of the high schools in Sádaba, Tauste, and Ejea de los Caballeros to work with 150 sixteen-year-old students. The sessions focused on self-awareness, setting personal goals, and managing time, changes, and priorities associated with the transition from secondary education.

On the weekend of September 28–29, 2019, we organized our regional meeting of rural youth activators in Gallocanta, with young people from the Campo Daroca and Jiloca regions.
With the aim of promoting volunteering among young people, as well as the skills and abilities gained through volunteer activities—which are important for their future careers—we organized an exercise involving local business owners and youth, led by the Youth officers from the Jiloca and Daroca regions.
In the first part, we asked the young people what skills they thought employers looked for when hiring someone. While the students mentioned degrees, courses, languages, and university education, the employers emphasized commitment, responsibility, problem-solving ability, decisiveness, and social skills. The exercise consisted of matching the skills acquired through volunteering with those that employers seek when hiring new employees.
The sessions were a success, and even high school teachers encouraged us to repeat them every year with more students.

On September 9th, in Daroca, and taking advantage of the synergies between the Daroca Rural Youth Activators group and the objectives of the Pon Aragón en Tu Mesa project, we created a local agri-food initiative in which young people were the protagonists. Dareco was organized to participate in the Ecofair, an event by Rural Youth Activators, with the aim of promoting the consumption of local, zero-kilometer products from producers in the Campo de Daroca region.
We spoke with local producers who donated products that we used to prepare seasonal recipes with the help of La Ojinegra. Once the recipes were ready, we invited producers and parents to a presentation we had prepared during the day.
A recipe book was created for the young participants, teaching them how to maintain a healthy, locally sourced pantry, and they acted as ambassadors for the products in front of their families.
The feedback surveys showed excellent results, both from the young participants and the producers and other attendees.

We’ll be sharing more information about this project soon. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact us.
