Selected 10 “Gloria Villalba” Youth Projects for 2026

The Gloria Villalba Awards call, is starting the next step, to develope the projects selected. From 21 initiatives submitted by various educational centers across Aragón, 10 projects have been selected based on criteria of innovation, participation, visibility, cooperation, and product development.

The selected projects are:

  1. “Tell Me in Matarraña” – 4th-year ESO students at IES Valderrobres restore and animate old photographs using AI to recover the historical memory of the region. The project culminates in a traveling exhibition connecting young people and older adults.

  2. “Bringing Technology Closer” at IES Fernando Lázaro Carreter in Utrillas – Aimed at reducing the digital divide among older adults, a group of young people will provide training on mobile devices, digital platforms, and voice assistants (Alexa). The project includes group sessions and personalized home support.

  3. “Youth Space in Beceite” – From IES Valderrobres, students propose creating a youth space in a disused building to promote youth participation and community use of underutilized spaces.

  4. “Culture on Every Plate” at Colegio Santa Ana in Caspe – Development of a recipe book featuring dishes from the diverse cultures living in the town. The project promotes cultural diversity through gastronomy and digital resources.

  5. “Open Premises” at IES Valle del Jiloca in Calamocha – A participatory process to analyze vacant premises and identify youth leisure and commercial needs. The project culminates in a public event with cultural, commercial, and artistic activities.

  6. “Jaca, a New Opportunity” at IES Domingo Miral in Jaca – A research project exploring the impacts, opportunities, and challenges of immigration in Jaca. The results will be disseminated via a website, media outlets, and digital formats.

  7. “The Whisper of the Region: A Walk through its Traditions and Nature” at IES Juan de Lanuza in Borja – Digitization of cultural and natural heritage using QR codes with multimedia content, facilitating access to historical and touristic knowledge of the region.

  8. “Caspeleras” at IES Mar de Aragón in Caspe – Creation and installation of recycling bins made from pallets in areas lacking such facilities. They also serve as identifying and reference elements for the municipality.

  9. “The Hearth of IES Pablo Serrano” in Andorra – A cooperative project where students design and build a wood-fired oven, managing the entire process. It promotes circular economy, social inclusion, and practical training in gastronomy.

  10. “Jaca Seeks and Discovers” from Escuelas Pías de Jaca – Gamified family routes through interactive tourist trails accessible via QR codes. The initiative targets families, young people, local businesses, and pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago.

Now, it is time for the young participants, supported by teachers, youth workers, and rural development technicians, to implement their projects between February and April 2026. To facilitate this process, Jóvenes Dinamizadores Rurales has signed collaboration agreements with the selected educational centers, establishing a technical and financial framework for project implementation.

The process will conclude with a final event to award recognitions and disseminate results on April 21, 2026, in the municipality of Caspe, Zaragoza.

The organization is confident that these initiatives, in which young people play a leading role, provide innovative and sustainable solutions to the territory’s needs, promoting communication and dissemination of the projects as an essential part of their impact.
