Celebrating young talent at the Gloria Villalba Awards

Celebrating young talent at the Gloria Villalba Awards

On April 21st, in Caspe, we experienced a day full of energy and emotion with the closing event of the second edition of the Gloria Villalba Awards. It was a day dedicated to recognising the work of young people who have chosen to get involved in their communities and to show that great ideas are also born — and grow — in rural areas.

The morning began at 11:00 a.m. at the Goya Theatre in Caspe, which was filled with people eager to accompany the real protagonists of the day: the ten projects selected in this second edition. Young people from different parts of Aragón came together to share their initiatives, celebrate the journey they have taken, and highlight everything they have learned throughout the process.

The gala was anything but a formal ceremony. Led by Políglota Teatro, who hosted and animated the event, the audience enjoyed a very entertaining morning filled with laughter, magic and a great sense of connection between participants and attendees. The theatre was full of excitement, nerves and applause in recognition of the efforts of those who have spent months developing their projects.

There was also space for emotion. During the event we remembered Gloria Villalba — colleague, role model and inspiration for those of us who continue to believe that young people are capable of transforming their surroundings and improving the places where they live.

After the award ceremony, the day continued in the afternoon in a much more relaxed atmosphere. Despite the heat, participants took part in workshops where they could create their own keepsake from the day and discover Caspe in a different way through a game of clues and challenges organised in collaboration with the Municipal Tourism Office.

Beyond the celebration, the gathering also offered a moment to look back and reflect on the whole process experienced over the past months. The participating projects first went through a training phase on social entrepreneurship in the classroom and then had to organise themselves as teams to shape their ideas and turn them into real initiatives.

A challenge that is not always easy, but one that clearly shows something important: there are young people who want to get involved, care about their surroundings, and work to make the places where they live better every day.

With this gathering we close the second edition of the Gloria Villalba Awards, feeling proud of the work accomplished and the journey shared. We now look ahead to next autumn, when we will once again listen to new ideas, support new projects, and celebrate everything that rural youth have to offer.
